A maternity session is more than a photoshoot, it’s a moment to pause, breathe and celebrate everything that has brought you to this point. Whether your session takes place in our South Wales studio, on location in the UK, or somewhere abroad, we want the entire experience to feel calm, considered and genuinely enjoyable from the moment you enquire.
One of the questions we’re asked most often is when to book. Because every session is planned with such intention, from styling to posing to artwork, we recommend getting in touch early. Studio and UK location maternity sessions are usually photographed when you’re between 28 - 32 weeks pregnant. Around this time, your bump has that beautiful, defined shape and you’re still comfortable enough to move gently through poses. If you’re dreaming of a destination maternity session, we bring the timeline forward slightly. Most airlines introduce travel restrictions later in pregnancy, so we photograph destination sessions between 22 - 26 weeks to keep you comfortable and give us plenty of flexibility.
One thing many clients are relieved to hear is that you don’t need to worry about what to wear, your session includes access to our curated collection of gowns and silk wraps. During your pre session consultation in our studio’s prop room, we’ll explore colours, fabrics and styles together, looking at what feels most “you” and what will photograph beautifully in your chosen setting. Whether you prefer something soft and romantic, something simple and refined or something with movement and drama, we’ll guide you toward pieces that reflect your personal style.
Our booking process begins with the contact form on our website, the only place we take enquiries so nothing gets missed. You’ll receive an automatic email with session fee information, and shortly after, we’ll call you for a friendly phone consultation. This is where we walk you through how the experience works, answer any questions and make sure you feel completely comfortable before reserving your date. If you decide to go ahead, a deposit secures your session and we’ll invite you in for your pre session consultation to plan everything together.
When the day of your session arrives, all you need to do is turn up and enjoy the experience. Whether we’re using the soft, controlled light of the studio or the atmosphere of an outdoor location, our approach remains the same, gentle direction, flattering angles and creating space for moments that feel natural and meaningful. After your session, you’ll return to the studio for your viewing appointment, where you can see your images for the first time and decide how you'd like them to be displayed.
